Christmas Eve Lunch

I know I am behind and that today is NYE and I'm over here still talking about Christmas Eve.
I wish I could ever post about things when they are actually relevant.
Oh well.

Christmas Eve was great! Even better than Christmas day in my opinion.
Mom made lunch that consisted of her yummy dressing, chicken, mac and cheese, mashed potatoes, rolls, and a delicious, too-pretty-to-eat, cake.

Garrett's family came over to eat lunch with us. I love when both families get together, it doesn't happen often but it's nice, and fun, when it does.

After lunch we went out to the Cypert's house for more Christmas Eve festivities, but I'll talk about those in another post! (I took WAY too many pictures to only have 1 post! Of course.)

I hope you are all having a great NYE!
I can't believe it's already almost 2013!

Kerrville Trip

Hey y'all!

We finally made it back to Denver from our little Christmas trip. We spent 9 days at home in Sweetwater, Texas. It was so nice to spend all of that time with our families.

Some of Garrett's family lives in Kerrville, Texas, so we made the drive to see them the first weekend we were home. We only stayed one night, but in that one night we got to see several of Garrett's aunts, his grandma, and several of his cousins.

That night Garrett and I, his brother Yates, and his cousin (and our old roommate) Cody, hung out at Garrett's grandma's and played Cards Against Humanity for several hours. It's like Apples to Apples but with crazier/dirtier answers. We laughed until our tummy's were sore. Oh, and I won the game! : )

Yep. That's my brother in law. Wearing the Ass Man shirt.

We ate at Taco Casa for the first time ever. It was delicious! May even give Taco Bueno a run for it's money, and that's saying something coming from me!

We can't go to Texas and not eat at Whataburger either.

Colorado is silly and doesn't have Whataburger, Taco Bueno, or Taco Casa. So, naturally, we stock up while we are home.

So that was the first part of our trip! I'll write more about the rest later. I can't wait to catch up on yall's blogs, I have missed you guys!

Be sure to enter in this HUGE giveaway I am participating in over here. There are only 4 hours left but you can win gift cards, a beauty set, ad space, all kinds of stuff! All prizes go to one winner!

Ridin' Dirty

Hey y'all!
Garrett and I made it safely home to Texas for Christmas with our families!
Since both our families live out in the sticks, our internet connection is slooooww, which makes it difficult to write any posts so I won't be blogging until after Christmas.
I wanted to to tell you guys to all have great Christmases, and to have fun with your families, and to eat tons of sweets!  I can't wait to catch up on your posts and holiday festivities!
Before I go, I have to share with y'all our drive home. Atleast our drive once we crossed over the Texas borderline.
This is the sun.
That, my friends, is a Texas dust storm!
It was awful and so scary. The Interstate was closed down because it was so bad. You could literally barely see the person ahead of you and it was like that for over 2 hours of our drive.
There was a 23 car wreck and as far as I know, 1 death. I am so thankful we were not a part of that. We drove by the wreck and it looked like something from a movie, smashed up cars and ambulances, and people being loaded into vans on stretchers. Very creepy. The emergency medical people said they were having a hard time finding the wrecks due to the amount of dirt in the air, there was no visibility!
I hope we don't have to drive through anything like this on the way back! Or ever again.
Ok. I'm done complaining.
 : )
Hope you all have GREAT Christmases!

DIY Gift Initials

Ever year I complain about having to wrap Christmas presents.
I've just never been good at it. Actually, I have always been awful at it.

As a matter of fact, I used to make my little sister do it for me, she was WAY better at it than I was. This year I decided I was going to learn how to do it well once and for all, as well as add something fun to make them look unique.

I came across several wrapping ideas on Pinterest and decided to try one of them out with a little twist of my own. I can't believe I am saying this, but my presents actually look good this year! Hey, there's a first time for everything, right?

What you will need:
Decorative paper
Hot glue gun
A wrapped gift

There's really no need to do a "How To" since it's pretty self explanatory. I just added initials to everyone's gift instead of using gift tags.

The fun thing is that you can add different things and customize them for each person so that they don't all look identical. I had this blue jean pocket from a pair of jeans that I cut up, so I used it to hold my sister's gift card.

I'm loving this because it was pretty easy and you can combine so many unique colors and patterns. I got my decor paper and stencils from Hobby Lobby and they had a great selection. Well, of the paper atleast, the stencils I got aren't very good.

I can't wait to pack all of these into the car and head home for Christmas!

Better Late Than Never

Garrett and I finally put up our tree last weekend.

I don't know what took us so long to get around to doing it, but afterwards I didn't want to put up the rest of our decorations. As a matter of fact, everything but the tree and ornaments went back into their boxes and out into storage. We will be home in Texas for almost a week so it didn't seem worth it to me.

And I am ok with that.
I think that the thought of having our tree light up the living room was good enough for me. Not to mention that now we don't have to undecorate the whole apartment once Christmas is over.

Try not to laugh too hard at these self taken pictures : )

We bought that cat Santa hat last year at Target for $5. It might be the best $5 we ever spent.

I hope your Wednesday's are great!

Y'all! Guess what?

My wonderful husband got tickets for him and I to go see her in Denver on June 2nd AND to go to Austin on May 21st to see her with my sister and mom!!

I realize that this news probably isn't equally as exciting to you guys, and I apologize for that, but considering Taylor Swift was included in my blog posts here, here, here, and here, I thought y'all would understand. : )

Also, on that same excited note, my friend CeCe is doing a GREAT giveaway on her blog today (a $50 DSW giftcard!)...go here to check it out!

Georgetown, CO

Hey guys! : )

Saturday, Garrett and I drove to Georgetown to spend the day. After receiving some crappy news on Friday, more on that later, we decided that getting out of town for the day would do us a world of good.

I had discovered online that Georgetown turns into a "Christmas town" the first 2 weekends of December, and thought it may help me to get into the Christmas spirit if we went. For some reason, this year I have not gotten into the spirit yet. I didn't even really want to put up our tree!

Going to Georgetown helped, as it was gorgeous with a wonderful atmosphere of Christmas music, lights, friendly people, shopping, roasted chestnuts, and snow. As Garrett put it, "It looked like something from a postcard."

Of course we made a stop in here. I didn't get anything but their cupcakes looked amazing!

I definitely under dressed for that day. I was FREEZING! I'm normally the first person to get hot so I never wear too many layers, that day I wished I had. We ended up stopping and buying my first pair of mittens. They are wool and have a really soft and warm lining.

I could spend all day trying on silly hats. It's so much fun!

We ate at a place called The Happy Cooker. It was a "family style seating" restaurant. That means that you sit with strangers at the same table. I hate places like that. If I had known ahead of time I wouldn't have stepped foot in there. It's not that I don't like people, but sitting closely at a table and sharing a meal with complete strangers holds the possibility of complete awkwardness.

When they called "Garrett and Whit" I looked up, ready to go sit down. I thought it was strange that Garrett had written down both our names, but didn't give much thought to it until I realized that the "Whit" was actually "Whitt" and was someone else's last name.  They were standing right beside us so I couldn't say no at that point.
We sat at a small 4 person table and had a meal together. And I am glad we did. They were really nice and there was no awkwardness. Thank goodness.

Bourbon Pecan Pie

This sweet girl was in someone's front yard. Her big ears made me giggle, and want to kiss her.

This lake is along the Interstate. It is so gorgeous frozen with the houses behind it. Usually it is filled with people ice fishing, brave souls!

Georgetown was beautiful and full of Christmas cheer. I guess it did the trick of helping me get into the Christmas spirit because we put up our tree that night. Finally!

What things get you into the Christmas spirit?
