Gender Reveal

Hi there! : )

Last weekend I flew to Austin, Texas for my sister's gender reveal party. I had been looking forward to this weekend, and seeing my family, for awhile. It was short, but fun. Alyssa's baby bump is adorable and I can't wait to see how much more it has grown when I see her again during the Christmas holidays!

I got in from Denver late Friday night. Alyssa and her friend Molly picked me up and we headed to her apartment to visit with my parents for a bit.

Saturday was the gender reveal party! Mom and I got the food ready (sausage balls, pig in a blankets, chips, sandwiches, cookies, pickles, cheese...) and we hauled it all out to the pool area where the party was. The weather was perfect!

Alyssa had asked everyone to wear either pink or blue to vote for the gender of the baby. Some of us (mom and I) cheated and wore both colors. There were pink and blue balloons and pink and blue cookies.

This is a riddle. Do you get it? : )

Our family.

Brandon's family.

Michelle and Alyssa.

Mama and daddy.

Alyssa and her friend Molly. They have been friends for as long as I can remember.

Alyssa and her college roomie, Rachel.

Two mama's.

The cake.
It had been forever since I had had cake, it didn't let me down either! ; )

Alyssa and Brandon filled the balloons with confetti and gave us all thumbtacks to pop the balloons.

Inside the balloons was.....PINK confetti!!

I guess I should say that Alyssa and Brandon both already knew that it was a girl. They couldn't wait to find out so they had known for 5 days before the rest of us found out. Alyssa had been hoping for a girl so we were happy for her!

PINK cake! : )

After the party we went shopping for Alyssa & Mini. (Mini is what we have been calling the baby until a name is picked out for sure.) Alyssa got several maternity jeans and some shirts and Mini got a couple of outfits.

Shopping for a baby is too much fun, so the next day Alyssa and I went shopping for Mini. I got her five new outfits, mostly kitty and cupcake things. Are you surprised?

Favorite.
It even says "I love my Auntie" on the pink onesie!

This is Abby. My sister's baby. Baby girl has gorgeous eyes!

My trip went by way too fast, as I knew it would, and I wasn't ready to come back. I swear as I have gotten older I have wanted to spend more and more time with my family. It was a bittersweet trip because I knew I wouldn't see them again until Christmas and by then Alyssa's baby bump will have grown, which means I missed something. My hand was pretty much like a magnet to her tummy and will be again next time I see her. I already love that little baby so much, I can't wait to meet her in March!

On the Look...

Guys, I need your help.
I already have a stash of blogs that I read daily and couldn't live without. I cherish those blogs, and their authors, because for the most part I have become friends with those authors.
That's the best!

Now where your help comes in...

I really want to add to my reading list. I want to make new friends, have new posts to look forward to reading and commenting on. I want more friends like Cece from Frugalista Married, Faith from Life, Love, and Marriage, and Brittany from Fun with the Fullwoods. Everytime I see a new post from these three I get so excited.
So...who are your favorite blogger friends that I could steal? : )
What are your favorite blogs to read?

Thanks in advance!

A Weekend of Firsts

As many of you already know, I am a sucker for anything holiday related. Since this weekend was full of holiday related goodness, it went down as a good weekend in my book. And, as the title implies, it was a weekend full of firsts for me and Garrett.

Saturday evening we went to Fright Fest at Elitch Gardens. This was my first time to experience a theme park while it was Halloween themed. I loved it! There were decorations, performances, people in costume chasing people around the park, a seance, and two haunted houses.

Garrett and I have been together for 8 years and this weekend was our first time to ride a roller coaster together. He's a roller coaster junkie, whereas I'll ride them if someone wants me to, but I don't get too excited about them. This one was fun though, twists and turns and upside down. Oh, and it was the kind where your feet dangle, I love those!

We also went to a seance performance and two haunted houses. This was my first time to go to a real haunted house. I LOVED it. I'm definitely addicted. I'm already ready to go to another, more intense, one. I thought I would be clingy and make Garrett go first but it was the opposite, I wanted to lead the way and not miss out on any scares.

Sunday we carved our first pumpkin. I was better at it than I thought I would be! I don't think I could ever do anything fancy, but it atleast resembled a face when we were done! Just having it lit up in our apartment feels so festive and makes me happy.

This coming weekend I am going to Austin for my sister's gender reveal party. I am SO excited to find out if that sweet baby is a boy or a girl. I'm also just excited to see my family, I can't wait.

Now if this week will just hurry up!

PLL

If you clicked on this post because you knew what PLL stood for, you are officially cool in my book. But, I bet for the most part, most of you didn't know what PLL stood for and that's ok too.

PLL= Pretty Little Liars

Yep. I'm blogging about Pretty Little Liars.
I love that show.
 Yes its cheesy, and yes it's kind of silly, but it's good. It's suspenseful and just an all around "girl" show. What's not to love?

While being slightly obsessed with the show (I have been known to watch 4 episodes in one sitting) I have noticed several things...

1. The 4 main girls, Aria, Hannah, Spencer, and Emily, ALWAYS look absolutely perfect. From the moment they wake up to the moment they go to bed. Their hair is perfect and their makeup is perfect. What high school girl knows how to do her hair/makeup like that? I sure didn't.

 2. Not only are their hair and makeup flawless, but they are always dressed to kill. At Rosewood High, nothing is off limits. They can wear strapless dresses, short skirts, spaghetti strap tanks. Anything goes. Not at good 'ol Sweetwater High. I wore a Cheers shirt once and got into trouble and had to change.

3. Do these look like high school aged girls to you? Me neither. So I did some research.
Turns out none of them are even under 20.

Aria= 24
Spencer= 27
Emily= 26
Hannah= 23

One of them is older than me, playing a high school student. That's nuts. And, another girl on the show is 30 trying to pass as a highschooler! Weird.

 During my late night PLL marathons, those are things that stuck in my head.
That and who the hell is A??

Fall in Denver

Fall is Denver is magical.
It's easily my favorite season.

Growing up in West Texas, I didn't experience fall in the way that Denver has to offer. The cooler weather, the changing leaves that last weeks, the pumpkin patches, and the snow capped mountains.
Fall here is like a real life scene in a magazine.

This past weekend Garrett and I visited the pumpkin patch at the Denver Botanic Gardens at Chatfield. We had gone two years ago, missed it last year, and decided that it had to be added to our "fall to-do list" again this year. It is one of those places that you have to mentally tell yourself, "soak it all in while you are here" because it is a beautiful, real life, picture of fall.

See what I mean?
Perfect

I hope you are out exploring fall related things with a pumpkin spice something or other in your hand! It really is the best. : )
