Bear Turns 1!

Well hi there! 

Long time no....see? Read? I don't know. Long time no blog basically.

Annnnyways. I hope you have all been doing great! I miss you when I don't blog.

This past weekend, Garrett and I flew to Houston for a certain little boy's 1st birthday party. My best friend Brittany's son, Bear, turned one and since Garrett and I hadn't even met him yet, we decided we were going.  We got there Friday evening and flew out Sunday morning. It was a quick trip but we had so much fun!

Sidenote: This was my first trip to Houston and as soon as we landed, I could feel the humidity. People warned me but I wasn't prepared. I was sticky and gross from the moment I got there to the moment I left. 

Friday evening we all went out to dinner. The restaurant had delicious food and they threw the most delicious rolls at you. Yes, they literally threw them at you. I mean they waited until you were looking, and I guess it was more of a toss than a throw. It was fun and we were in great company.

Saturday was Bear's big day! Brit had been up all morning setting up for the party so by the time Garrett and I were up and ready, everything was pretty much done. We helped set a couple of things up and Garrett went with Zach to get the food. Then it was party time!

Brittany went all out for Bear's party. The decor was so detailed and sweet. The party was storybook themed, inspired by the children's book Good Night, Little Bear. Prepare yourself for picture overload!

Saturday night we all went to Pappadeaux for dinner. It was so much fun to go to dinner with such a big group of people! I have known the Fullwood's for a long time and when my 2 best friends married into the Fullwood family, I was a bit jealous. Two of my best friends are pretty much sisters! But, this weekend, they made Garrett and I feel like family. We had such a great time celebrating Bear's one year milestone!

Gender Reveal

Hi there! : )

Last weekend I flew to Austin, Texas for my sister's gender reveal party. I had been looking forward to this weekend, and seeing my family, for awhile. It was short, but fun. Alyssa's baby bump is adorable and I can't wait to see how much more it has grown when I see her again during the Christmas holidays!

I got in from Denver late Friday night. Alyssa and her friend Molly picked me up and we headed to her apartment to visit with my parents for a bit. 

Saturday was the gender reveal party! Mom and I got the food ready (sausage balls, pig in a blankets, chips, sandwiches, cookies, pickles, cheese...) and we hauled it all out to the pool area where the party was. The weather was perfect! 

Alyssa had asked everyone to wear either pink or blue to vote for the gender of the baby. Some of us (mom and I) cheated and wore both colors. There were pink and blue balloons and pink and blue cookies.

It had been forever since I had had cake, it didn't let me down either! ; )

Alyssa and Brandon filled the balloons with confetti and gave us all thumbtacks to pop the balloons.

I guess I should say that Alyssa and Brandon both already knew that it was a girl. They couldn't wait to find out so they had known for 5 days before the rest of us found out. Alyssa had been hoping for a girl so we were happy for her!

After the party we went shopping for Alyssa & Mini. (Mini is what we have been calling the baby until a name is picked out for sure.) Alyssa got several maternity jeans and some shirts and Mini got a couple of outfits. 

Shopping for a baby is too much fun, so the next day Alyssa and I went shopping for Mini. I got her five new outfits, mostly kitty and cupcake things. Are you surprised?

My trip went by way too fast, as I knew it would, and I wasn't ready to come back. I swear as I have gotten older I have wanted to spend more and more time with my family. It was a bittersweet trip because I knew I wouldn't see them again until Christmas and by then Alyssa's baby bump will have grown, which means I missed something. My hand was pretty much like a magnet to her tummy and will be again next time I see her. I already love that little baby so much, I can't wait to meet her in March!
