I signed up for Influenster at the end of December and got my first VoxBox in February. I was really excited when I got the email saying that I qualified for it, seeing as I had barely done anything in order to earn a box of freebies!
If you don't know what Influenster is, I suggest you check it out!
My VoxBox was called the "Sweetheart VoxBox" and came in last weekend.
And it was full of goodies to try!
1. Olay Fresh Effects {Va-Va-Vivid}
This was the first thing I tried and the thing I was most excited about trying. I had seen this advertised on TV and every time it advertised, I thought, "I want to try that!" I was happily surprised to find a free one in my box!
What did I think about it?
I really like it! It's simple to use and leaves your face feeling really soft and clean afterwards. The brush's triangular shape is perfect for your face, it easily goes around hard spots like your eyes, nose, and mouth. The brush is rubber so it feels soft to the touch. You can use it in the shower too, which is convenient. It normally retails for $12.99 plus $6.99 for a full size cleanser and I think it is worth that. The cleanser it comes with is good, but it can be used with any cleanser which is awesome.
2. Secret Clinical Strength
I had seen this advertise on TV too and, to be honest, the advertisement bugged me because it kept saying "stress sweat" and that "stress sweat" is different than other kinds of sweat. I just thought this sounded silly and gross. Maybe there really are different kinds of sweat, but I don't want to hear about them.
What did I think?
To me, deodorant is deodorant, and this was no different. Other than the refreshing smell of citrus, this deodorant was similar in effectiveness as any other I have ever had. I don't typically sweat much under my arms so I may not be the best product reviewer for an antiperspirant. But, it does smell good!
3. Skinnygirl Daily On-The-Go Bars
I was a little nervous about trying this because I'm not really a "bar" person. Especially the one's that are supposed to be healthy. I thought the packaging was cute and coconut with peanut butter sounded right up my alley, as I love both flavors.
What did I think?
It was surprisingly good! I say surprisingly because normally, in my opinion, healthier bars have that protein-y taste to them. But, this did not. It had a really delicious flavor and was very filling. However, the retail price is $9.99 for 5 bars, and I think that is a bit steep.
4. Not Your Mother's Beach Babe Texturizing Sea Salt Spray
Last but not least! I had heard of sea salt spray before, and had even looked for some at the store, but had never tried it. So, I was excited to find this in my box as well!
What did I think?
I still don't know. I have naturally wavy/frizzy hair and have to go over it with a straightener or curling iron for it to be presentable. With this, I washed my hair, sprayed on a little heat protectant and some frizz minimizing cream, and then generously sprayed this Beach Babe spray from root to tip. I used half the bottle (a 2oz. bottle) in one sitting because I have long, thick hair. At first it seemed like it gave my natural waves a nice beachy look, but throughout the day my hair kept getting frizzier. Maybe I should've gone over my hair with a straightener first? I may try that next time.
Another thing I wasn't so sure about was spraying sea salt onto my hair. Salt is drying and can't be good for your hair. This retails for $6 per full size bottle which is probably worth it if I can figure out how to keep my hair from getting frizzy!
