On New Year's day I had to work. I normally work from 5:30am to 9:30am but on this day, since it was a holiday (well a holiday for everyone else), I worked from 9 to 5. I grunted and grumbled about having to work while Garrett stayed home that day for probably at least a week. Not that my job is that difficult.
I work at a residential treatment center for young girls. I am a counselor for 12 ladies that range from 11 to 14 years old. Since they didn't have school that day we watched a movie, played basketball, and ate yummy spaghetti. However, Garrett got to stay home and watch football, which is what I wanted to do!
After finishing all of the paperwork that we have to do after each shift, I was finally on my way home! While I like my job, I definitely prefer my usual 4 hour shifts compared to that 8 hour shift. Oh my heavens that was a long day!
Anyways, back to the point of this post. When I got home this was taped to my apartment door:
I don't know about you, but I get really embarrassed by these sorts of things. I love them, don't get me wrong, but I get em...barr...assed! ( I realize that that says assed...it's the only way I could think of to split the word up...sorry mom!)( Also, it's supposed to be pronounced sloooowwwllyy, that's what the ... is for)
Ok, back on track. So when I saw this I got super excited and super embarrassed. I made sure Garrett was no where in sight before I took it off the door. I think my face gets red when he does something nice for me. I'm not sure why. I know it's weird.
After I carefully remove it from the door, I go in and up the stairs and this is waiting for me!
He set this up all by himself. Doily and all. Isn't he precious?
I'm sure my face was really red at this point. I was so excited and felt so lucky and loved!
He had music playing to go with the vintage theme, too. It was Duke Ellington's 1941 classics playing on our record player.
AND he got dressed up! And of course I made him take cheesy pictures.
He made one of our favorite chicken recipe's (found here) paired with macaroni and cheese and yeast rolls. YUM!
SO happy!
So, that was our date night. It was perfect! I am so lucky to have found such a great husband and best friend.
*Thank you for the sweetest candlelit dinner I have ever had honey! I love you! : )*
awe! That's adorable! My husband works second shift, so no date nights for this girl. :( Your food looks delicious!
