The Kindness of Strangers

I just wanted to brag on someone.
Someone I don't even know.

Friday night, Garrett and I were looking for a place to eat dinner.

This whole thing went on:

I am the Queen Bee of saying, "No, hun I don't care where we eat."
Then Garrett will list several places and I turn them all down. All girls do this right?

Anyways, we ended up at Old Chicago.
All night my main desire was to have a Coke. I wasn't too picky about the food, but I refused to go somewhere that didn't have a Coke.

Well, stupid Old Chicago only has nasty Pepsi products.
I told our waitress that I guessed I would just have a water. Then I decided a nasty Dr. Pepper wouldn't be too awful.

Several minutes went by, no Dr. Pepper. Now the bad mouthing of the waitress starts.
"I wish she would just bring my damn Dr. Pepper!"

Finally, she comes to our table with my drink and tells me to take a drink and that she was sorry for the wait.
IT WAS A COKE!!

She had ran across the street and bought me a bottle of Coke. She said, "If that was the only thing not going to make you happy, I had to go get you one!"

Say whaaaa? How sweet is that!?
I gave her a big Texas-sized hug and grinned from ear to ear.

To the sweet waitress who bought me a coke:
I'm sorry I don't remember your name, but THANK YOU for going out of your way to serve your customers. That was the sweetest thing a stranger has ever done for me! : )

  1. I'm so glad you shared this story! Brandon and I have been making a concerted effort lately to do little things like this for people. You never know who you are going to come across, and the smallest things can change a person's day or a person's life. You just never know. This is awesome.

Pay it Forward, I say :)
