I have been wanting to do a fashion post for awhile but have been reluctant to pose in front of a camera while my husband takes my picture.
He would laugh. Big time.
And I would probably spend most of the time laughing too, it would be awkward.

When Faith blogged about beginning a #yesimwearingthis day on Instagram, I decided I would cooperate.

I have seen so many people take "fashion" pictures with their phone, and since I was home alone, I decided that would be the best route to take for this first post.

Taking pictures of your outfit with your phone, for me, was damn near impossible. I took 10-12 pictures and they were all blurry, too bright, too dark, or just didn't show much of my outfit. I couldn't get the position down, you know the one, where you are in front of a mirror and hold your phone up and snap a picture of your reflection. I couldn't figure that out, my phone was either blocking my face, my outfit, or the picture was awful!

To those of you that always get great pictures with your phone...I am impressed! Any tips welcome!

Regardless, I am going to share a couple of these blurry pictures with you all. I'm not going to waste a good outfit! : )

Sweater & Scarf: Target Button Up: Ralph Lauren, thrifted Necklace: J. Crew

You should've seen me trying to take these pictures. You would've laughed. Hard.
I don't think I have ever felt more ridiculous!

I think next time, if I do another "fashion" post, I will give in and have my hubby take my pictures.
Thanks in advance, babe!

  1. You look adorable and your hair is seriously gorgeous! I have tried the mirror pics too to see what my outfits look like in pictures and they never turn out good!

  2. You are so gorgeous, best fran!!! I LOVE the yellow paired with black and white polka dots...fresh and fun, plus perfect for fall. You should get G to take some pictures of you next time...if you're laughing in all of them they will still be good :). Plus it'll make me laugh! Win/win!

  3. Omg I'm laughing so hard over here!
    You are so hilarious!

If you've noticed I don't do the mirror shots because I can't figure it out either! There has to be a science to it because I try but I always block something too, haha. I guess I'll have to keep trying!

Your outfit is gorgeous!! Love the colors together! And your hair is so, so amazing! I love the way you curled it!

Thanks for participating and helping with my need to see what everyone wears :)

  4. I don't mind asking my husband to take pictures (I think I have done 3 outfit posts ever) the problem I am running into is lighting! Its just so dark out now. I do love that yellow sweater on you. The color looks great!

  5. I love the layering!! so cute! and I use a timer and my camera. I have an old iphone so it doesn't have that reverse camera so it is impossible to take a picture of my face! I've tried and give up every time!

  6. Love that outfit!!

  7. Beautiful, Whitney!! I LOVE black and yellow together...polka dots and yellow are both so much fun and look awesome together! I know I've said this before, but I love your hair!!!
I was laughing reading this, because I would be the same way trying to take the pics over and over again!
    Have a wonderful night! Xoxox

  8. I love it that you tried!! I too would love to do a fashion post but I can't quite figure out how to go about it on my own either. I see bloggers who do basically mini photo shoots outside. Are they alone or do they have a personal photographer? And others who do their own and they look good. I might give it a try too since you did!! Love the sweater and polka dots!!

    1. Um...yes. You so should have tried modeling!! Love your hair.

  9. OK this makes me laugh because I JUST did this today! I always post a what i wore wednesday post and always have my husband take the pictures for me. But he's out of town right now so I tried to take the pictures myself today and it was SO HARD. I'm looking for the secret to this as well now...
