The Eiffel Tower Ring!

Hi darlings!

When I first started blogging, I saw several people doing link ups sharing pictures of their wedding rings, and I loved that idea! I really love looking at other people's rings and seeing the different styles there are, and the way different styles look on different people. And frankly, I just love hearing about engagements.

I have to confess, I am not one of those girls who had had her wedding planned since she was 10 years old. Before Garrett and I had talked about getting married, I actually never pictured what my wedding would look like or what kind of ring I would have. Honestly, I didn't know anything about rings. I had no idea what princess cut or any of that was.

The first time I can remember beginning to think about rings was when I was at a bachelorette party for a friend. It was a weekend thing and us girls all went to the mall and, while there, visited Tiffany's. It was then and there that I fell in love with a ring.

After looking around in Tiffany's:
{yep, I'm the tall one in the middle with BROWN hair!}

And just because some of you know both me AND Brittany:
 {she and I were both friends with the bride-to-be and had so much fun at the bachelorette party together!}

Ok. Back to that ring in Tiffany's. I tried it on. It was 2 carats and cost $44,000.
Here is a link to it and here is a picture:

Isn't it gorgeous!? That picture doesn't even do it justice. Go to the link I shared, it looks better.
I'll wait.

I got home and seriously couldn't quit talking about it. Poor Garrett. He was like, "uh...no". I mean, I didn't ask for it or anything, I just took a mental picture of it so that when we started looking I could find one similar. $44,000 is ridiculous!

So, fast forward a little bit and G and I were engagement ring shopping! WAHOO!!

I wanted to go because, other than that Tiffany's ring, I had no idea what I might even like. I narrowed it down to three and had my sister and mom go with me to see which one they liked best. There was one ring that resembled the Eiffel Tower {and the Tiffany's ring I loved!} and we all decided we liked it best. It was more expensive than the others so I let Garrett have the ultimate choice between the three.

The day he proposed, I was so surprised/happy/shocked. He chose the, as we called it, Eiffel Tower ring! I, just like now, took tons of pictures. I wish I would've had my nice camera then.

Dinner afterward at Stella's:

My ring!
{ignore the fake nails}

That was over 3 years ago and I still stare at it all the time. I am so thankful for it and for such a sweet husband to get me something so beautiful!

Link up your rings with Kelly, I would love to see them and hear about your engagements!

Ps. Don't forget to enter into this giveaway! Morgan is giving away a $25 Starbucks gift card!!

  4. It is gorgeous!!!! You really started out shooting for the stars when you stepped foot into Tiffany's looking at engagement rings. 44K. So glad you didn't make Garret by you that one but the one you did get is very similar. Very vintage looking. You and Brittany are so cute!!! Britt and Whit...I love it.

  6. Beautiful!! I don't think I have pics of my ring or else I'd totally link up! I actually discovered on Sunday night that I had lost a stone out of my wedding band! EEEEKkk!! Ring is currently at the jewelry hospital! I have a really sweet engagement story, if I do say so myself! Forrest came and surprised me while I was studying abroad--the little sneak! Here is a post I did about it:

  7. Your ring is GORGEOUS!!!!

    And btw, after you "waited", I did, indeed, scroll up and clicked on the link ;) HA HA!
    It's stunning!

    But I'd be terrified to rock out a $44,000 ring! I get like that with my ring, to this day, and it was nowhere near that... But, still higher than I planned on liking... Whoops!

    I was like you.. No idea what style I wanted. Thought for sure I wanted a princess cut (when I was with the ex anyway) and decided it wasn't what I wanted at all.

    I love your "Eiffel tower" ring! The details are AMAZING!!!!!

  10. Ah so sweet! I love looking at other people's rings. I love this style too, it is so beautiful. And how sweet that your husband went all out for you when you let him go with a less expensive ring if you wanted. What a keeper!

  11. It's beautiful! I fell upon my engagement ring kind of by accident looking for rings on Etsy, so I knew when I got engaged that was the one I wanted. I wrote a blog post about it here: http://www.decoybetty.com/2011/09/he-liked-it-so-he-put-ring-on-it.html

  14. 1. Those pictures of us make me LAUGH and miss those times!! We have so much fun together...I wish I could see you on a regular basis like we did in Lubbock. Those were the good ole days!
    2. Your ring is GOOOOORGEOUS. I have always thought so! And I could be wrong, maybe, I doubt it (ha), but I feel like I deemed it the "Eiffel Tower Ring". I remember saying that the first time I saw it...that from the side it looked just like the Eiffel Tower. It really is beautiful...and I think it's prettier than the Tiffany's one. Plus, who would want to wear a ring THAT expensive? I'd be a wreck, always afraid it'd fall off.
    3. Totally off subject, but Z thinks someone PRYED the mirror backing off. Like, in our driveway. Like, probably minutes before I walked out and saw it while we were on the phone. SCARY! It had marks from a screwdriver and looks like someone took it off on purpose. So, Zach had to go get the entire mirror replaced this morning; they wouldn't just replace the back part. And $400 later....he has a new mirror. So dumb. People, especially thieves, I'll never understand!
